LIVE, CONTRIBUTE & GROW

Volunteer at Koningsteen

Join our international residential volunteer community and experience life at a retreat center dedicated to
connection, awareness and personal growth.

MORE THAN A PLACE TO VOLUNTEER

A place to connect, contribute and grow

Koningsteen is a retreat center surrounded by nature in the Belgian countryside. Throughout the year, we welcome people from Belgium and abroad for retreats, workshops, training programs and gatherings focused on well-being, awareness and personal development.

Behind all of this is a small, dedicated team, and our international residential volunteers are an important part of it.

Volunteering at Koningsteen is about more than helping out. For at least two months, you become part of the daily rhythm of the center: living together, sharing meals, contributing to the care of the place and connecting with people from different countries and backgrounds.

LIVING TOGETHER

Life at Koningsteen

Community life is at the heart of the volunteer experience.

Our residential volunteers live on the property and become part of our international team. We believe that staying for a longer period creates something that simply isn't possible in a few weeks: you get to know the place, the people and the rhythm of the center, and we get to know you.

CONTRIBUTE YOUR WAY

How you can contribute

Our residential volunteers live on the property and become part of our international team. We believe that staying for a longer period creates something that simply isn't possible in a few weeks: you get to know the place, the people and the rhythm of the center, and we get to know you.

House & Community

Caring for shared spaces, preparing rooms and retreat spaces, helping with community meals and supporting practical day-to-day activities.

Creative & Practical

Art and creative projects, DIY, painting, light maintenance and helping us improve and beautify the spaces we share.

Garden & Outdoors

Light gardening, plant care, seasonal outdoor work, small eco-projects and helping us care for the grounds..

MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME

Your home at Koningsteen

During your stay, Koningsteen becomes your home.

Most of our residential volunteers stay in shared accommodation. Private rooms are sometimes available, but these are limited and depend on availability at the retreat center.

Volunteers share bathroom facilities and have access to community spaces, laundry facilities and free Wi-Fi.

Sharing food, sharing life.

Meals are an important part of community life at Koningsteen. We come together around the table not only to eat, but also to connect, talk and share our day.

We serve healthy, predominantly organic vegetarian food, and all meals are included during your stay.

A GOOD MATCH

Is Koningsteen the right place for you ?

We are looking for people who want to become part of Koningsteen rather than simply spend some time here.

You don't need to have experience in yoga, meditation or retreat work. What matters most is your attitude: being open, reliable, mature, willing to contribute and comfortable living as part of an international community.

YOU MIGHT FEEL AT HOME HERE IF...

  • You enjoy living and working with others.

  • You like contributing and taking initiative.

  • You are interested in personal growth and well-being.

  • You appreciate nature and a healthy lifestyle.

  • You are open to people from different cultures and backgrounds.

  • You are comfortable with community living.

  • You are looking for a meaningful experience rather than simply a place to stay.

THE PRACTICAL COMMITMENT

Looking for a base while travelling?

Koningsteen is probably not the right fit if your main reason for volunteering is to find accommodation and food while travelling around.

Of course you can explore during your days off, but the volunteer experience is designed around being here, contributing and becoming part of the community.

Why 2 months?

It takes time to find your place, get to know each other, understand the rhythm of the center and move from simply being a visitor to genuinely becoming part of the team.

This is why we ask every residential volunteer to commit to a minimum stay of two months.

We have found that longer stays create deeper connections, greater trust and a much richer experience - both for you and for the people you live and work alongside.

There is something about this place and its people that invites you to be who you are and to feel comfortable within the community. You feel connected with yourself, with others and with the place. Without really noticing it, I became part of a true team experience.” (Sofie)

“What made it truly special were the people and the retreats. Daily life felt balanced: we worked, shared delicious meals together and built friendships with people from many different backgrounds. I am grateful for everything I learned, for the trust I was given and for the many friendships we formed.” (Filip)

“The place itself is beautiful, but what really makes it special is the human side. I would recommend this experience to anyone willing to spend time somewhere where you will be heard, where you will matter, where you will work and contribute, but where you will also feel that you are part of something — not simply someone passing through.” (Zara)

“Koningsteen was much more than a volunteering experience. I found a place where I could slow down, connect with people from different backgrounds and feel part of a community. (Tabatha)

“Living at Koningsteen gave me the opportunity to experience a different rhythm of life — closer to nature, surrounded by inspiring people and with space for personal reflection. It was a beautiful experience of sharing, learning and growing together.” (Tamara)

“From the beginning, we felt welcomed into the community. Sharing everyday life, meals, work and conversations with people from different countries made our time at Koningsteen very special. We came to volunteer, but we left with friendships, experiences and memories that will stay with us.” (Mariano & Andrea)
